IN MY DVD COLLECTION

The other day I wondered which female actor had starred in the most movies in my little DVD collection. Was it Julia Roberts or Kim Basinger or Maureen O'Hara or Grace Kelly? Maybe it was Rene Russo or Katherine Ross or Reese Witherspoon. I knew I only had one with Marilyn (Some Like It Hot) and none with Bette Davis or Joan Crawford or Meryl Streep.

I decided to take a look.

Two tied for second place.

SIGOURNEY WEAVER: Alien, Aliens, Working Girl, Dave, Galaxy Quest

FAMKE JANSSEN: Goldeneye, Deep Rising, The House on Hanuted Hill, X-Men, X-Men 2

Number one turned out to be:

FAYE DUNAWAY: Bonnie and Clyde, Chinatown, The Three Musketeers, The Towering Inferno, The Four Musketeers, Three Days of the Condor, The Thomas Crown Affair (the remake)

Don't know what this says about my taste in movies but I had fun collecting the info.

Someone else with Deep Rising in their collection! I loved that movie and always thought it got the shaft because no one understood the humor involved..

Deep Rising is one of my favorite -- I guess you'd still call them B movies. I get a big kick out of it. Included in that list would be Deep Blue Sea, Dog Soldiers, Mimic, The Relic, Soldier, and Tremors. I think those film accomplish what they set out to do ... good stuff.

ooh!
Faye Dunaway. You know what I like best about her --how far's she's come. Early in her career I didn't care for her much. It felt like I could always see her acting. But she got so much better. I think she's amazing in Chinatown.

You know who else is like that? Jessica Lange. She was stinko in the beginning but she got GOOD.

Paul Newman and Robert Redford also. Paul Newman in a movie where he's in a toga (I forget the name) makes me cringe and Robert Redford in a Twillight Zone episode that is so incredibly BAD. ha.

Dink:

One day I'll see which male actor stars in the most DVDs I have ... the Duke or Eastwood ... Jimmy Stewart or Tom Hanks ... Sean Connery or Kurt Russell?

Anyway, Newman and Redord are terrific. Not only are they wonderful actors but they have what used to be called screen presence. Butch & Sundance is my of my all-time favorite movies. Of course Newman is Cool Hand Luke and Redford is The Natural.

The Natural is my all time favorite movie. During my insomnia I watched The Verdict with Newman--he was great. And my first Netflix movie was An Unfinished Life with Redford--He was so good.

It's fun to see two guys come so far.
